The LeapFrog LeapReader Read and Write Book Set: Ready, Set, Kindergarten is a great learning tool that is sure to boost confidence in learning or just practicing essential academic skills.  I’ve been using this set with my son that’s starting k4 this Fall. He has constantly asked me for this set and has had me sit with him while checking it out. He has also explored the three included book titles all on his own with his Leap Frog LeapReader device. The Summer season isn’t quite over so when out and about running errands and before getting to set destinations he’s been bringing this along in the car to pass the time. The books in this set along with the LeapReader (not included) are quite travel friendly! Honestly what better a way to pass the time than learning and having fun with it too!  Continue reading

Check It Out!: Reading, Finding, Helping {Children’s Book Review}

checkitout

If you want to give children a look into some if not all the things a librarian does, you’ll definitely want to pick up a copy of Check It Out!: Reading, Finding, Helping by Patracia Hubbel and illustrated by Nancy Speir. This delightful hardcover title features bright and cheerful full page spread illustrations that appealed to my children ages 3 & 5 years old quite a bit. The book is written in rhyming way which makes the flow go along quite well whether if you are reading or listening!

What are some things covered that librarian is known to do that is mentioned in this book? Well, for one you’ll see her helping children locate books, fixing the books with glue and tape, helping children check out books of all kinds, planning parties, researching books in the news, reading books to the children, and more! There’s really never a dull moment! Exciting, engaging, and a lot of fun to read!

I loved this title and think it would be great story to pull out when teaching social studies in school or at home. Who knows maybe it will inspire a child to want to grow up and be a librarian themselves!

Interested in Purchasing? Check It Out!: Reading, Finding, Helping can be purchased on Kindle or Hardcover format on Amazon.com. E-reader price is $3.99 and hardcover for $9.61 as of this posting.
