Let’s face it, this time of the year is when sickness is more likely to rear its ugly head and most are known to not eat as well as they should compromising their health. Out shopping recently it seemed like Halloween candy was just shouting for me to take it home and indulge myself. I’ve had enough restraint for now but who knows what might happen when my kids bring home treats in a couple of days right? Actually thinking highly of swapping their loot out with better options.
I’m glad that there are healthier options and all the orange and black during this season don’t revolve around sugar coated treats in which we’ll regret eating days if not hours later. It’s a fact that if healthier snacks line my cupboards and are ready for me to grab out of my fridge, I’m more likely to make the better choice and less likely to lower my immunity to colds and other discomforts to my body and well being.
In thinking of HalloWellness, I’m excited to share about the orange and black offerings from Organic India which are Turmeric and Chyawanprash! I was sent Tumeric ( supports inflammation, digestion joints and radiant skin) in capsule format that is Doctor Oz approved as well as Chyawanprash a 100% organic herbal jam to try for myself. An added bonus was Tulsi, a delicious organic caffeine free tea that is great for stress relief and energy. These products are all a real treat to indulge upon!
The Black – Chyawanprash is like nothing I’ve tasted before. It was a little less jam like than I expected but it was still good. It’s thickness kind of reminds me of honey. It can be spread on bread, eaten on a cracker added to milk, juice & tea, or just eaten straight. It only needs refrigerated if keeping it around for longer than a months time. It’s packed with 36 traditional Indian herbs + vitamin C, aiding in digestion, metabolism, memory and even skin complexion. It’s very tasty in my opinion and would be a great ingredient if putting a plate of crackers out for friends during a get together or just adding it to my daily food and snack routine!
The Orange – Tumeric Formula capsules. I can’t really talk about the taste because this is in capsule format but I can talk about the benefits! Tumeric is known to support inflammation, digestion joints and radiant skin. There are 90 capsules per bottle and suggestion is to take one capsule twice a day with food and water. I haven’t taken these long enough to notice any benefits but will totally update and talk about it again in the future.
The Tulsi tea is very good! I like that it’s caffeine free since I enjoy having a comforting warm mug of tea in the evening hours! Each of the tea bags are individually packaged which makes it easy to bring these along to have whether at work or at a friend’s place. The tea can be served hot or cold. If you aren’t a fan of the bag format, this tea as well as others can be purchased in loose leaf form as well.
Organic India has many teas in bag or loose leaf form, herbal supplements, and a few other wellness products. There are many reviews on individual products on the company website as well as Amazon.com from their customers. I would recommend checking the company out and trying some of their great products to improve your well-being!

We have had quite a full schedule lately! I’m going to admit that for me, Summer is a very lazy season plus I just don’t tolerate heat too well. When Autumn hits, I’m very energized and tend to get the family out to celebrate the season in its fullness over every other one.
On Saturday we visited our local pumpkin patch! This has been our third year visiting and we plan on continuing the tradition with our kids for many years to come! Our outing was cut a bit short, due to heavy winds and rain on the way. Wind gust were so strong that people were losing power and there were down trees around the area. My mom whom resides in North Carolina even told me the town where my husband works was mentioned in the news. So definitely noticeable blustery weather!
As a family we picked one pumpkin each to carve for Halloween! Four may seem like a lot of pumpkins but we really enjoy being able to support our local farms and I might even gotten a few more! Other than carving designs and faces into the pumpkins I’ll be roasting the seeds to snack on! My kids couldn’t get enough of the oil and salt oven roasted pumpkin seeds last year. There weren’t many leftover but whatever was we shared with the birds and squirrels in our yard.
Pumpkin farm photos are some of my favorite to look back upon. Melody was all smiles as usual but Owen was wearing down for the day. We had actually been to the Howl-O-Ween Zoo event that morning and stopped by the Pumpkin Patch on our way back home. He was totally ready for a nap. Thankfully no melt downs just pout faces when I asked him to pose for me. Good thing he’s so cute right?
I love hearing from my readers about their favorite fall traditions so feel free to comment below and let me know how your Autumn season is going!
