Drawing with Mark DVDs

 Look for Drawing with Mark DVD’s at your local Michael’s!

 I’ve only given my nearly 6 year old  daughter a preview of one of the Drawing with Mark DVDs but she’s excited with the fact that we’ll be using these for our Homeschool Summer art activities! Because not only will she be learning how to draw all sorts of things, she’ll be learning educational facts with each of the different DVD’s such as facts about dinosaurs, life on the farm, caring for animals, our solar system and so much more!

I grew up watching and learning how to draw from TV shows like Pappy Drew It and The Imagination Station and feel the aid of DVD’s can really grow the skills of any artist. I like that Mark starts with the basic foundations of using shapes such as circles, triangles, and goes from there. The fact the educational bits takes kids on site before the lesson is pretty neat as well! I totally like that there’s so much learning going on!  Each DVD contains two half hour lessons and would be best for children ages 5-9 years old. I would recommend these most certainly and will be posting our Summer art with Drawing with Mark in the months ahead! Continue reading

The Cat in the Hat: Safari, So Good DVD & Book {Review & Giveaway}

catinthehat-safarisogood

March 2nd fans everywhere, my family included will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday. And in light of this celebration, I’m pleased to announce that NCircle Entertainment just released a fun new DVD based off Seuss’ work called The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!: Safari So Good. Along with the DVD they also sent along a great book to go along with called Safari, So Good!: All About African Wildlife for me to share with family as well as get the word out here on my blog!

About the DVD:

Join the Cat in the Hat on this brand-new safari adventure! Help him find the missing stripes for his hat, swing with silly monkeys and discover how footprints are made! It’s time for safari, so come and explore with the Cat and his friends on adventures galore. We will reach for the treetops and swing through the trees, When we walk like giraffes and swing like monkeys!

This DVD includes five delightful stories: Treetop Tom, Stripy Safari, King of Swing, Elephant Walk and Follow the Prints.

My children ages 4 1/2 and 2 years old, girl and boy, loved the Safari, So Good! DVD. There’s a Spanish language option and runtime is 60 minutes. I like that you can choose to play a couple of the adventures one day and save the others for later. We for the first time sat and watched the DVD from start to finish and later discussed some of the animals and the environments we saw. My 4 1/2 year old daughter had a lot to say about the elephants and my son was totally into seeing all the different animal foot prints.

I think this DVD would be great for a unit study on the Safari or just to have as something fun and educational for them to watch at tv time. The Cat in the Hat is quite the character and has always impressed and excited not just my children with every new adventure but me too! There’s great facts, fun songs, and unforgettable adventures, a total winner when it comes to education entertainment for and child!

About the Book:

Safari, So Good!: All About African Wildlife a title in the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, is quite an adventurous children’s book. This book and others in the Learning Library line are great for beginning readers like my daughter teach basic concepts in a entertaining and educational way. I didn’t know it before but recently learned that The Cat in the Hat Knows A lot About That TV series is based off the Random House Cat in the Hat Learning Library book series! How cool is that?

In this tale, the Cat takes Sally and Nick to Africa–where they learn how animals are either predators or prey, that elephants tend to favor one tusk over the other, how to tell the difference between a white and black rhino, that zebras sleep standing up and much, much more! The facts are very interesting and makes you want to delve deeper in knowing more about the animals! I know that after reading this book, my kids will probably be prone to check out the Safari animals closer at the Zoo during our next visit!

Want it? The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!: Safari So Good DVD’s SRP is $10.99 and is available at NCircleEntertainment.com or a retailer near you, including Target, Wal-Mart, and Toys R Us!  I also saw it on Amazon.com for Amazon.com for $9.99 as of this posting!

Review and Giveaway: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: The Friendship Express DVD

I haven’t met a little girl that didn’t love horses, unicorns, and especially sweet little ponies. When I was a little girl I dreamed of having a horse and having such great adventures! The horse in my dreams was majestic, knew me perfectly, and we were completey inseparable. I still love horse and I am happy to see this love also forming in my three year old daughter who has recently discovered the magical world of unicorns and other horse friends in My Little Pony ( a newer version of the show I used to watch myself as a child)!

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: The Friendship Express DVD is going to be released for your viewing pleasure on February 28. In My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: The Friendship Express, the benevolent Princess Celestia, ruler of Equestria, selects unicorn Twilight Sparkle for a very important assignment – to learn about the most important magic of all: friendship. With her new friends, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie, Twilight sets out on amazing adventures, and they all learn what it means to be true friends.

There are five episodes included on this two hour collection featuring magical stories focused on the importance of friendship. Episode titles include; Friendship is Magic part 1, Friendship is Magic part 2, Over a Barrel, Hearth’s Warming Eve and The Last Roundup. My daughter loves her friends and is always talking about them. I appreciate titles such as this one that encourage and display characteristics we all should take to heart to be a good friend!

My nearly four year old daughter loves My Little Pony! Her favorite character is Twilight Sparkle since she’s a unicorn pony and she’s purple, my daughters favorite color. Sukey’s Circle Vol. 2 DVD {review}

I am pleased to know that Sukey’s Circle has just released a second volume! I’m not the only one excited about this release as NAAPA Awards gave special recognition to Sukey’s Circle! Vol 2 by calling it a “Rising Star”! And if you’ve heard anything about the previous volume,  there’s a good chance that this second feature will be up and running for another NAPPA Award and Mom’s Choice Award next year!

Sukey’s Circle Volume 2 has a run time of about 32 minutes and there are 2 episodes included in this DVD:
  • Where Does The River Go: Which features her songs Where does the river go and Swinging like a monkey.
  • Pat The Ball: Which features her songs Pat the Ball and Twinkle Twinkle.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has enjoyed watching Sukey’s Circle Vol. 2. I love how she’ll not just sit and watch but she’ll  sing along with Sukey and also interact playfully by copying her moves! I can’t say that about a lot of the things my daughter may watch!

Sukey does a fantastic in talking and reaching younger children and it almost seems as if she’s not filming a DVD like other shows I’ve seen but teaching children in the same room with her! I highly recommend it for babies through three year old children!

If you are interested in purchasing this DVD yourself, you can find it at Play Move & Sing. You can also find other Sukey’s Circle products such as puppets, Audio Picture Books, CD’s, and CD’s with Songbooks. She also has Circle Time Kits available.

Disclosure: Sukey’s Circle Volume 2 DVD was provided to me at no charge in exchange for a fair and honest review. The ideas and opinions expressed are my own. I was not paid nor compensated in any other way.
