Night Night, Train by Amy Parker {Book Review}

Night Night, Train by Amy Parker and illustrated by Virginia Allyn, is a sweet story that can help lull little ones to bed.  The story begins with a family of dogs getting aboard the night night train to Sleepy Town. On their adventure, we see the family taking part in activities most families would like having dinner, reading a favorite book together, taking a bath, brushing teeth, and evening prayers. Once-A-Day Nurturing Great Kids Devotional {Review}

Once-A-Day Nurturing Great Kids Devotional: 365 Practical Insights for Parenting with Grace is straight to the point. I found that only with a few minutes set aside to read each day that this book has given me more than enough insights and suggestions to reflect as well follow through on. I appreciate that many of the devotions are focused on Grace, something we are to humbly accept and willingly give daily!

This book guides parents to grow into becoming more firm footed in their faith and in doing so it reflects back upon their family. The advice is positive and practical. This book gives parents with the tools needed to be a positive influence. I feel that the author does a good job in providing readers with topics that will come in up parenting such as learning to be content, respecting authority, practicing purity, attitude adjustment, and much more. Whatever the age of the child, the topics covered can be discussed, prayed upon, and handled in a Christ-like way giving hope as well as building a stronger a relationship within the family.

The devotions are on a single page. The layout is simple and easy to read. Following the date and day, there’s a title, Bible verse, short devotion, a parenting principle, and points to ponder. There are usually three points to ponder pertaining to the devotion of each day. I found these insightful, convicting, and incredibly personal. The pondering I would suggest perhaps getting a notebook or journal and write your pondering down to go back and reflect upon. I believe looking back on your reflections can be helpful in getting through those tough parenting days.

I would recommend this book to any mom or dad that is aiming to build and nurture the relationships with their kid. I feel I am learning as well as getting a lot from this book having only just begun reading it! It’s an excellent choice even if you only have a few minutes a day to pick it up.
