National Swallowtail Butterflies Day
On this beautiful morning, my oldest daughter and I set out for a sunrise walk after watering our garden, eager to enjoy the fresh air, sounds, and the tranquility of the early hours. During our stroll, we were delighted to spot a stunning Western Tiger Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio rutulus). It gracefully flitted around us, showcasing its vibrant colors, before finally landing on a long blade of grass nearby.
I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder as I carefully inched closer with my phone camera in hand. With each tiny movement, I worried that the butterfly might take flight and disappear before I could capture this moment. Luckily, it remained perfectly still, allowing me to take a few photos. This encounter felt truly special, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with my daughter and you my readers!
