Exquisite Events: Rose Garden’s 60th Anniversary Celebration

On June 14, 2025, the sun shone brightly as the Longview Public Library hosted a delightful celebration to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Memorial Rose Garden.

From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sensory and visual delight. The air was filled with the drawing fragrance of countless rose species, each bloom showcasing its unique colors and delicate textures. The dedicated volunteers tending to the garden throughout were enthusiastic and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the care and nurturing that each rose requires. I enjoyed seeing the passion on their faces!

Among the festivities was an activity where attendees could cast their votes for the most impressive rose based on its appearance, aroma, and name. It was fun to wander the garden smelling each rose!

While participating, I indulged in elegantly decorated rose-themed cupcakes and refreshing, icy lemonade, which added to the festive spirit.

As I wandered through the garden, I marveled at the rich tapestry of colors and the delicate fragrances that enveloped me. Each rose variety seemed to tell a story. Did you know that the rose is Oregon’s national floral emblem, and Portland proudly carries the title of the Rose City?

I found it delightful that there was a raffle where you could win a number of different types of roses to plant wherever you desired too!

Across the street, a sea of people came together to passionately express their First Amendment rights. The spirit of solidarity was inspiring, I felt a swell of pride for my fellow citizens who were courageously taking a stand for their beliefs. It was a day filled with beauty, community, and a shared commitment to important causes. Peace and Love my readers.
