Exquisite Events: Cowlitz County Master Gardeners Plant Sale

On May 24th from 8am-3pm the Master Gardeners Plant Sale was held at the Cowlitz County Fairgrounds!
This annual event is one not to be missed. It features a wide variety of garden plants, flowers, and herbs numbering over 6,200 in total! The marketplace includes an information booth and numerous well-knowing volunteers who ensure that everything runs smoothly!
The number of plants was a delight the sheer volume completely impressive. The health of the plants and the different types are quite impressive. There were many heirloom tomatoes, and I picked up a white Beef Steak, which was a new to me choice! I am quite excited to see this one grow and enjoy it with my family. Among the Beef Steak, I nabbed a cherry tomato plant since we use those often for salads during the Summer season, and they are my son’s favorite type.

Many herb options were available from Sage to Basil to Thyme to a variety of Oreganos. I picked up a Mexican Tarragon, Cinnamon Basil ( we love a good kick of spice) for herbs.
The flowers we brought home were Mexican Sunflowers, A Japanese Windflower, Borage, also known as Starflower ( great on salad!), and a Canadian Golden Rod. We are quite excited to see these flourish and bloom for years to come!
We got to see and smell a tree that had leaves that smelled just like peanut butter! We almost brought it home but decided to work on our garden space rather than add large trees and shrubs at this point, which would need a bit more clearing.
Other plants available included hanging baskets, patio planters, peppers, flowers, squash, cucumber, lilies, and so many more!
I am quite happy to have gone to this event. I learned quite a bit of information and was glad to support this local group and our surrounding area in more than one way. I recomend visiting next year if you are in the county!
I’m glad you got to attend it. Awesome!
