Exciting Sights: Jane Szabo Somewhere Else at The Forsberg Gallery

The The Forsberg Art Gallery located at the Lower Columbia College in Longview Washington has on display during the month of February through March the thought-provoking works of Jane Szabo.

Jane is a conceptual artist based in Los Angeles who expresses herself through the fabrication of materials and visceral photographic images. She has a background in creating props and miniatures for the entertainment industury.

Her work includes handmade constructions, self-portraiture, and still life compositions. Through her art, Jane visually shares stories that delve into her personal experiences, offering profound insights into self-exploration and identity.

In this exhibit, an emotional journey of longing, escape, and searching for a home invokes thoughts and emotions about the deeper, more meaningful aspects of life such as belonging somewhere both pyshically and spiritually.

I found this presentation to be very thought-provoking. I appreciated how Jane carefully constructed each piece of art by mixing natural landscapes with architectural structures. The houses each being covered in maps was a delightful personal touch.

My favorite piece is of a small map-covered house sitting in the forest. To me the home gave feelings of peace away from the business of life in such a great big world that we only see for such a short period of time. I feel this exhibit invokes looking within and asking those hard questions about where you are and want to be.

This exhibit runs from February 18-March 13, 2025 and can be found at The Forsberg Art Gallery located in the Lower Columbia College.
