Exciting Sights: The Minthorn Collection of Chinese Art

There is a wealth of culture and knowledge to discover in most communities if you know where to search. I am excited to share information and our experience on an incredible collection located within a local college that is open for everyone to enjoy for free.
The Minthorn International Art Gallery and the Minthorn Collection of Chinese Art are a remarkable offering from Dr. and Mrs. Minthorn to the Lower Columbia College Foundation and the community it serves, offering a profound opportunity for artistic engagement, cultural enrichment, and deep-rooted heritage of China.
The couple’s remarkable collection of Chinese art and artifacts offers a stunning array of beautiful porcelain, ceramics, embroidered silk, and exquisite jade, displayed both as captivating works of art and functional pieces.
It is truly inspiring to see how their generous donation enriches the community, allowing countless individuals to appreciate and connect with the collection. The accompanying stories breathe life into each piece, illuminating the rich history and showcasing the exceptional care and artistry that went into each creation. This collection is not just a display of objects; it’s a gateway to understanding and appreciating the intricacies of a remarkable cultural heritage.
My oldest daughter loved immersing herself in this remarkable collection, eagerly reading every placard and fascinating historical detail accompanying each exhibit.
The space offers numerous benches and an impressive selection of books for anyone interested in a deeper understanding of Chinese history. The atmosphere is inviting, enhanced by soothing music and gentle lighting, creating the perfect environment for exploration and learning.

The gallery is proudly situated on the upper level of the Forsberg Art Gallery in the Rose Center for the Arts. The hours of operation are Mon-Thurs 10am-3pm (During Current Forsberg Exhibition Only).
