Exquisite Events: 13th Annual Squirrel Fest

In late summer, we had the opportunity to participate in the 13th Annual Squirrel Fest in Longview, Washington.

This fun festival, the first of its kind on the West Coast and in the Mount St. Helens region, is a fantastic celebration of our furry friend that is beneficial to the environment.

The area is home to numerous permanent squirrel bridges, and during the event, there was tour showcasing each one.

The festival took place in a nicely shaded area in the middle of town. There was plenty of parking and admission is free.

There were enjoyable activities for the entire family, including live music, performances, and unique squirrel-themed products from various vendors.

My oldest daughter was fascinated by the live reptile and arachnid exhibit and even got to hold her very first Coral Snake! We also acquired free seeds for our garden and supported the local library by purchasing a delightful set of squirrel-themed clips for our kitchen.

Close to the festival, visitors could explore the Long-Bell Shay Number 5 locomotive, a 1924 train preserved on the public library’s lawn for over 60 years and open for tours to all interested individuals.

This event provided a delightful and educational experience. I highly recommend attending to celebrate these captivating creatures in a truly special way!
