Exciting Sights: The Clatskanie Food Hub
During our summer escapades, the children, my friends, and I stumbled upon a delightful local farm store a short distance from our haven. I was incredibly impressed by the remarkable community outreach and the delightful farm-to-table marketplace, that I couldn’t wait to share with you, my readers.
The place I speak so highly of is the Clatskanie Food Hub, a year-round non-profit marketplace that features 100% local food and other items produced and processed by a minimum of 70 farmers and makers no more than 100 miles from where the establishment resides.
In addition to offering a wide variety of food options, they also host engaging classes, concerts, movie screenings, and other special events. Their past classes have covered essential skills like canning, pickling, dehydrating, and fermenting, providing one with valuable knowledge for food preservation.
My friends, children, and I have made it a weekly tradition to visit the food hub, indulging in the freshest local produce and meats, along with high-quality skincare products. We always look forward to our visits and enjoy engaging with the friendly staff. I encourage everyone to stop on by.
The Food Hub is open year-round, Thursday through Sunday. It can be be found at 80 Art Steele Street in downtown Clatskanie.
They accept FDNP checks, EBT/SNAP, cash and all major credit cards for payment. Note if you are on the EBT or SNAP program, they offer a weekly free allowance of $10.00 worth of food in their market.
