Summer Camping at Metzler Park
This Summer my family and I spent a few days camping with our church at Metzler Park. This campground can be found approximately five miles south of Estacada along Clear Creek. It is located only a short way from many Clackamas County communities making it a great location for repeat visits.
Metzler Park offers visitors 2.5 miles of trails which includes a footpath that leads over a bridge across the creek. If you are looking for an easy hike, I personally found the trails not all that steep. Our early morning and afternoon hikes were enjoyable and restorative. I liked being surrounded by all the towering Douglas-fir and Western Red Cedar Trees.
There was a lot of wildlife to see. We spied chipmunks, birds of all sorts, squirrels, slugs, spiders, fish, and many more interesting creatures.
Perks at the campsite include shelters for events, sports fields, playgrounds, bathrooms, and hot showers.
My kids enjoyed exploring the creek on our visit. The creek was also used for baptisms during our time there.
Would we visit here again? Most certainly, yes! It’s a wonderful area that is restful and secluded without being too far out.
