Family Camp Hitting Theaters May 13th! {Review + Giveaway!}
During our family movie night this week, my family of 5 was given the opportunity to see Family Camp, a faith-based comedy film by The Skit Guys that will hit theaters nationwide on May 13th, 2022.
The premises of this film is about two entirely different families that are searching for change in their family. Throughout the film, these two families find themselves bunked up together and crossing paths in more than one way swinging toward both good and ill during their church’s annual family camp.
The tale is as heartwarming as it is laugh out loud. There’s the right amount of comedy mixed with some pretty serious moments. The message the film encompasses is loving one another, forgiveness, understanding/acceptance of who people are, having faith, and much more.
My kids are ages nearly 14, 11, and almost 6 years old. They really liked this movie and said they’d totally recommend families seeing it together. There was no cussing, violence ( just brief lightweight slapstick), or other mature themes and content to worry about.
The story is well told. It is filled with humor, foreshadowing, tying things together, and a few twists and turns. Nothing really felt out of place and I appreciate the comedy wasn’t flat out over the top. The actors did a good job and we enjoyed the music and cinematography.
While as certainly an amusing and entertaining film, I feel the topics covered can prompt deep thought and conversations between spouses as well as parents and kids. I encourage everyone to go out and see it! It’s great for families, friends, and church groups to see!
The film is rated PG and runtime is 1hr & 51 minutes long.
