Celebrate Easter with PureFlix! {Review & Giveaway}

Over the weekend in preparation for the Easter holiday, my family decided to browse Pureflix for something to watch together. Our aim in selection was a themed retelling of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection that my youngest who is 5 and half years old could understand and take in.

In our search, we found an entire Easter category with titles ideal for those younger those older as well. I noticed that The Passion of Christ (Available only from 20 March to 19 April 2022) was listed. This film was one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater. It is deeply impactful and I encourage others to see it but know this title is not for children and not recommended for those under 17 due to its graphic nature and depiction of Christ’s final 12 hours on earth.

For our family night, we went with The Passion: A Brickfilm which is recommended for kids ages 5-10. We found it to be a unique and artistic retelling of the Easter story that highlights the trials, crucifixion, resurrection of Christ, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. It sticks pretty well to scripture and is family-friendly. The LEGO theme I’ll admit was pretty cool. It kept my kids’ attention from start to finish.

Note that in this film there is blood and that could be potentially scary for sensitive children. That said, I feel the scenes weren’t too intense and will open the door for conversation as it did with my youngest child.

Aside from the two titles I mentioned above, Pure Flix has many inspiring and encouraging options to watch in preparation to prepare ones self and family for the Easter season such as:

Risen
The Case for Christ
The Chosen
A.D. The Bible Continues
Penitent Thief
& MANY more!
