Who Are You Following? by Sadie Robertson { Book and Journal Review}

Author and speaker Sadie Robertson Huff has done a great job in giving some clear direction in navigating social media and our own personal online presence with her new book “Who Are You Following?”. She gives plenty of food for thought questioning the why, what, how, and who connected with how we are ingesting, producing, and being influenced upon over the internet.

Some would think the best answer might be to be completely anti-social media but I, like the author, feel it can be used for so much good instead of the negativity it often can get. Speaking of the good, I did meet my husband of 15 years over the internet but aside from the good, I know the bad that can come with being online from using it for a social aspect as well as being an influencer (blogger and reviewer).

Sadie does an incredible job in demonstrating how we should be letting Christ fully impact our lives in everything we share and do online but not only. She gives us questions to ponder about the people (brands included) we follow. She is thorough in her research including surveys and scriptures to back up her points. I like she includes biblical and well as personal relatable stories.

Likes, follows, shares, things maybe you shouldn’t be sharing, what to do about cancel culture…all of these things are mentioned and looked at in one shape or another. I appreciated her fresh perspective on this topic that truly needs help in navigating.

The book is full of questions in “Ask Yourself” blocks throughout. These questions are great to answer in your head or on paper. That said, I would recommend the guided journal to go with this book. The journal goes chapter by chapter along with the book and asks many questions and leaves space for you to record your answer. It can be used alone or in a group setting.

I feel this book and the journal; are great for the up and coming, those who are neck-deep, and others that are only knee-deep online. After reading through this book, one would have a clearer look and better foothold in going forward in our likes and loves finding purpose in and fulfillment in the ultimate of ways through Christ.
