-About the Book-
Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to ever complete an IRONMAN triathlon, inspires others to achieve their goals by getting better 1% at a time.
What would life look like if you measured your success by improvements instead of victories? Nik Nikic shares the incredible story of his son Chris’s journey to become the first person with Down syndrome to ever complete an IRONMAN® triathlon, inspiring others to achieve their goals by getting 1 percent better every day.
From the moment Chris Nikic was born, his parents knew he could achieve anything he set his mind to do. Together, they set their sights on making history—Chris becoming the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN® triathlon.
Written from Chris’s father’s perspective, Nik shares the 1% Better mindset that has helped Chris achieve many of his goals—and the underlying principles of the 1% Better system can help you pursue and achieve your dreams too! Form a lifelong habit of success
–My Thoughts-
I thoroughly have enjoyed this book. It is written in a way that is easy to understand and not confusing or all over the place. Many parts are relatable in that drive to be successful in whatever you feel you are being led to.
I didn’t expect it but the introduction brought me to tears also being in a place of trying to have a child and knowing the loss and grief that sometimes comes with it. Every child is a blessing no matter what the flaw others and the world may see.
I felt enlightened, educated ( I never knew really knew what the Iron Man was before this book!) inspired, and in awe of reading through the life story of the author and his son as of far. In never giving up great things were (breaking a world record!) accomplished but not without many obstacles and much of life along the way.
I found it helpful that, Nik, wrote out a plan of success in the book that can help anyone achieve their goals. He goes through the details of how long it takes to form a habit, how to create a dream board, how to in general just start, and a few other things.
I think this is a great book and those of any age I feel can benefit from it. I plan to let my pre-teen and teen read it soon and we’ll discuss it together.
