Trick or Treat, You’re So Sweet! ( A Lift-The-Flap-Book)

Trick or Treat, You’re So Sweet a lift-the-flap book written and illustrated by Dean Gray is a fun hands-on hardcover book perfect for reading during the Halloween season for young ones.

Each hardcover page has a door flap to lift along with a rhyme to read. We were delighted to see the trick-or-treaters behind the door decked out in their favorite costumes. There is no real guessing involved since the rhyme gives it away but it was still fun to see.

The illustrations are great and full of so much color. They were a true delight to take in. I appreciated all the details.

My youngest enjoyed it as we read this book together from start to finish. The vocabulary isn’t too difficult for early readers.

There is nothing scary here such as creepy monsters or witches. There is a child dressed up in a silly vampire costume but there is no blood just silly candy corn-shaped teeth. Our favorite costume was the pirate!

It’s a cute book overall and can get little ones excited about the fun and not scary elements of the holiday like dressing up and candy!

First Infinity Granny Square Blanket

This weekend I finished up an Infinity Granny Square Blanket. I learned how to do this particular technique from the Youtuber “Play Hooky with Me“, if interested, you can find the video here.

Orange and Blue are the favorite colors of my son. I used Red Heart Super Saver Blue and Pumpkin. Two skeins were blue and 3 oranage. The blanket is 50×50 inches and diagonally 70 inches. The hook I used is 5.5mm which is also a US- I/9.

He is very pleased with his blanket. It is perfect to throw atop his other covers on his bed at night or to use to cover his body when watching tv or gaming. It is an open style but my son runs warm so it is perfect for him. I highly recommend giving this blanket style a try if you haven’t!

Meal Prep: Mason Jar Soups for Fall & Winter

Autumn is finally here and so are the cooler temperatures for the North West where my family and I reside. With that change in season comes enjoying more hearty meals like soups for example.

I’ve been tackling going through and rearranging the pantry for a little while now and was wanting to create a space for make-ahead meals for busy days and even for the not so busy days. I did a little digging on the WWW and was inspired by Food Preppers and Homestead Heavy influencers to pull out the Mason Jars and get to making.
