ROAR LIKE A LION Kids Devotional {Review + Giveaway}
ROAR LIKE A LION written by Levi Lusko & illustrated by Catherine Pearson is a great devotional for children that will challenge them to be bold and courageous like a lion and to seek God’s will all their heart, soul, and mind!
This book features 90 devotionals. It is presented in a way that you can start the book at any time since it is not predated. We all know life can happen sometimes so if you skip a day, there’s no need to catch up but to start where you last finished off.
It is presented well with bold vector-based pictures and the design layout isn’t overly busy at all.
The introduction is not to be skipped over. The author speaks of the inspiration of this devotional, what he hopes readers will gain, and the mention of a seek and find an activity to participate in while going through the book.
Each devotion starts with a Bible verse, a reading, a “Did You Know” history blurb, and a prayer. The devotions are relevant for the ages this book is recommended for and I felt applicable for this current generation.
I feel the devotions were easy for my kids to understand and relate to. While flipping through the book myself, I noticed one that was about the pandemic and how it made us all feel stuck but not to stay there and continually steal our attention. It encouraged us to look for the good things in all of it and tied it together with Philippians 4:8.
This devotional certainly has given my youngest children a different view of what the Bible says about courage for Christ Followers compared to what the world often says and shows it to be.
I recommend checking this out!

1. Parent Discussion Guide
Teaching kids about the Bible can be hard. Taking concepts like heaven, and hope, and loss, and faith, and boiling them down into digestible bite sizes for kids is challenging!
This guide is built as a tool to accompany the book, and to help your family discuss Roar Like a Lion together. Each day you’ll find a few questions that will help you dig deeper into what your child is discovering.
My prayer is that Roar Like a Lion will ignite your child’s heart and imagination to know and love Jesus! And that is my prayer for you, too. Download Parent Discussion Guide
2. Four Rhythms to Setting The Pace of Your Home.
Your calendar is chaotic, your days loud, and your seasons busy. I see you. I feel that.
Maybe you feel like the madness of life is clouding the calling on your home. Like you just can’t pinpoint the priorities. Maybe you’ve found yourself wondering…
- Is “balance” even possible?
- Is parenting ever not chaotic?
- Will I always feel overbooked, under-rested, and too busy?
The truth is, there is a God-ordained rhythm that He wants us to set out our lives to. There is a built-in beat. There is a cadence. There is an ebb and flow to how He wants our lives to go.

One of my grandchildren would be gifted it. I think it’s a great idea for Katie. Colorful! She’s just the right age now.
This would be the perfect book for my nieces! My brother is a pastor and would LOVE reading this with them! What a great book to grow deeper in their faith.
