*New* Pugtato Finds a Thing {Children’s Book Review}
Pugtato Finds a Thing by Sophie Corrigan published by Zonderkidz is an absolutely adorable book for children. When my four year old daughter saw the video book trailer last month for this offering she declared “Oh, Mommy, you have to get this book!”. I think the whole vegetable theme is really appealing to her right now since we got a community garden of our own this year to enjoy.
In this story, we meet Pugtato. He’s a cute little potato that also looks like a pug. You’ll find out as you read on that all the characters take on a half vegetable half animal style. For example there’s Unicorn on a cob, Brussel Snouts and Collieflower just to name a few. It’s a fun adventure to try to guess and see what animal combination shows up.
The main character finds a thing! What is the thing? Well, that’s exactly what we and the Pugtato are on a mission to find out. He asks his friends and they all have their own ideas to just what it could be.
The story is written in rhyme. There are lots of puns and clever word play that keeps reader and listener engaged. The things the characters say all appears in comic style bubbles where as the rest of the text is basic except for the characters names which stand out in size and different colors.
The book is about friendship, exploration, solving a mystery and trusting your heart for the right answer.
Note though this is published by a christian publishing company, there is no mention of God or Bible verses present in this book.
We got this book in its hardcover format. It has a book cover sleeve on the outside which you can keep on or take off.
