When The Season is Dark

When The Season Is Dark

Are you going through a difficult season in your life? When situations don’t make sense and all the good you have done didn’t save you from the present sorrow, leaning on what you have learned from God’s Word is the very foundation you need to help you stand up again. It often seems that people won’t genuinely seek God until they are where the situation seems hopeless. Take courage, you are probably right where God wants you and most likely put you for His reasons. Seeking answers and praying for help put you front and center to God and He has your full attention. Draw strength from the verses you have read in the Bible, lean on the love that God has for you, and rely on the fact that nothing happens to a child of God unless He wills it.

Why Read Your Bible Daily

There is a reason that black belts in martial arts can react successfully to an immediate threat without thinking. They have practiced, it’s inside of them. They are prepared. The same thing goes for reading God’s Word daily. Even if you think you won’t remember it or maybe you don’t even fully understand it, just keep reading. He designed us to know Him. When you fill your mind with Scripture, you will be pleasantly surprised at how the perfect verses come to you at your hardest moments.

During your difficult times, open the Bible and find your favorite verses that have comforted you before or just start reading and see what new comfort you find. Seek out great Bible resources like The

What’s Your Relationship

Spending time with someone is the best way to learn about them and feel the love that person has for you. The more time you are together, the more comfortable you are to share your feelings and fears. Don’t wait until things become difficult to reach out to God and talk with Him. Relationships take time to build, so build on yours with God daily. Prayer doesn’t have to be formal. It’s just another word for spending time talking about your life and thanking Him for what He’s done. Pour out your heart during the dark days and see how comforted you are because you know He is listening. Psalm 116:1-2 reads “I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.”

It Can’t Happen Unless He Allows It

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you belong to Him and nothing can happen to you unless He wants that for you. That can be a hard thing to understand when life becomes sad or painful. The thought that a loving God would let you suffer seems contrary to the idea of love. But think about a mother who gives her child medicine that tastes awful, or a doctor who has to reset a bone in order for it to heal properly. It’s a love that is more than instant gratification; it’s a deeper more permanent love. He knows what you need to help you grow. Sometimes it’s because He wants to be closer to you and that’s the only way you will stop and seek Him. Often in the storm, you may not be able to see the amazing lesson and future that lies just ahead of the clouds. Jeremiah 29:11 reads “’For I know the plans I have for you’,” declares the LORD ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Trust in the trial and trust the God Who planned it.

If you are in the Bible daily and communicating with the LORD constantly, you will begin to understand the hard times better. Trials may come, but you will be able to withstand them knowing that God is always in control and He loves you.
