A Very Happy Easter Prayer is a delightfully wonderful book that points children to be thankful for all the wonderful happenings the season brings. Aside from everything Spring usually brings in the beauty of Nature, children are reminded of God’s gift to us His son, Jesus, and that during this time as Christians we celebrate the resurrection.

The book is perfect for children ages 2 through 6. We have been enjoying the board book version of this story and I am pleased that the pages are sturdy enough to handle much use.

The cover is quite eye catching with title text that stands out being outlined in a metallic pink and each title letters is filled with a white glitter. The beautifully sparkling glitter doesn’t shed which this mom is quite grateful of. The author Bonnie Rickner and illustrator Natalia Moore’s names are in the same metallic pink that shimmers as well as flowers falling from the tree and the side binding. The side binding standing out as such always makes finding this book on the shelf quick!

The illustrations are a delight! My youngest and I have spent some time exploring every little detail! Inside are pictures of animals picking yellow daffodils with friends, jumping in puddles during a light rain, picnics with loved ones under a great big tree, seeding a garden in anticipation of a harvest, flying kites, and many more things that most children can relate to during the season.

We are reminded that this is the time when we may spy a birds nest in a tree when we see dandelion seeds floating along in the air, bees traveling from flower to flower, frogs hopping in the pond. Spring has such blessings that should fill us with wonder and delight. There is so very much to thank the Lord for and I am glad this book serves as a reminder to young and old to take the time to see it.

The text is written in rhyme so it’s an easy read-aloud book that flows well. I feel this book would be a little difficult for beginner readers but if somewhere in the middle a child could read it with some assistance. My first grader son had no trouble reading all the words on his own aloud.

This book is in the “A Time to Pray” series. This is an awesome series that I’ve only just learned about. I feel it’s important to teach children to talk to God in Prayer. This book can assist in making prayer a habit starting with being grateful and giving thanks to God for all His wonderful blessings.

This book lightly points to thanking God for life, for promises, the gift of Jesus, and the resurrection. It can open the door for further conversations on the matter.

Overall, this a wonderful book for children to read, have read to them, and enjoy during the upcoming Spring season and Easter Holiday
