100 Favorite Bible Verses for Children {Review}

100 Favorite Bible Verses for Children is a devotional book with the main goal of recognizing key scripture verses and how it can be applied to our lives. Parents and caregivers are given an excellent resource in this title as it perfectly simplifies verses through a not overly wordy explanation that young children can comprehend. Questions pondered and asked about each verse are likely to already be answered in each day’s applicable reading.

This book does a great job in drawing children in. From the front to back cover and all throughout there are interesting animals illustrations to keep the attention of curious eyes. The book isn’t overly busy nor is it not interesting. It’s very well-rounded, in my opinion.

The inner beginning pages of the book have your general to, from, and date page. A few pages following, there’s “A Letter to Parents” section. This letter walks one through the importance of sharing scripture with a child and in how to go about doing so with this book.  It clearly states and suggests that you can use this book as a devotional or as a guide for memorizing scripture. I personally feel it would work well doing both at the same time.

The layout for each reading features a number, a title, a reading and short ending prayer.  The scripture verse for the reading always is on a single page with an illustration.  I feel it’s important to point out that the scripture translation differs from verse to verse and doesn’t stick specifically to one.

An example of a daily reading is “The Good Shepherd” that focuses on John 3:16. The reading explains what a shepherd is, how Jesus is sometimes called the Good Shepherd, how we are like sheep, and how Jesus watches over us. I think it does a great job in shedding light on this very well known verse.

I feel this is a nice scripture based devotional book. I think it’s important for children to start memorizing and recognizing scripture and this book does a great job in helping with that. In being meant to walk through with your child or children this a great way to also draw closer together as a family.  Perfect to read in the morning, afternoon, or before bed. I recommend it!
