365 Devotions for Living Joyfully {Book Review}

365 Devotions for Living Joyfully by author Victoria York is a cheerfully appealing offering to start, go through, and finish your year with.

The yellow teal coloring of the book is a cheerful and bright choice that draws you in. The bicycle illustrations on the front, back and inner pages of the book is the perfect symbol of heading forward on life’s journey.

In the first section of the book, there is a page that has a presented to, from and date section. This page is great if you are gifting this book to someone you know and if lost could easily be returned to the owner. The book is a nice size and can easily be stored away in a drawer, left on a coffee table, or brought along with you on the go.

The format is set up for each calendar year. There are dates such as January 1st, January 2nd, and so forth. These devotional dates don’t list the weekday or the year so you could use it at any time.

The daily reading isn’t very long an could be read in a few minutes. Each reading takes up just one page of the book. There is the date, devotional title, scripture verse, the reading, and an ending prayer. You can keep track of your daily reading with the ribbon bookmark that is attached in the binding of the book. Further study can be pursued thanks to the Scripture Index found in the back of the book. Note that the scripture verses included are taken from many different Bible translations.

I personally found the readings applicable to my life. The readings point us to living a more joyful life full of hope in the Lord.  The readings are short but they pack a powerful reminder. Where this book would be great to read daily, I would still suggest an even deeper study in the Bible and through other books and teachings in addition.
Overall, this is a nice place to start your day when time may be short and there’s not really a moment to spare through the happenings of life.
