Really Woolly: Christmas Blessings {Board Book Review}

Really Woolly: Christmas Blessings is an adorable holiday-themed book that points readers to the reason behind the season.   Bright colors on every page, cheerful illustrations of now and long ago celebrate the coming of Christ.  The Scripture verses from the Bible and sweet rhyming readings to take to heart and mind remind us of the blessings and the most wonderful gift God could have ever given, His son!

There are 17 readings each featured in a two-page spread. There is a theme, scripture, short devotion, and a prayer for each two pages. This book could be read daily, weekly, or however one sees fit. The writings rhyme, the verses are written in a simple form ( easy to memorize), and there’s a sample prayer to pray to God to end each reading whether during family devotion, afternoon/morning, or at bedtime.

The pictures are so much fun to look at together. My youngest loves pointing out the sheep, duck, and bunny on every page. Aside from the familiar characters, there are other fun animals to look at. Seeing Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus made us all so happy.  The mix of now and the past ( the Christmas story) were perfectly placed.  Common traditions and seasonal fun like baking cookies together, trimming the Christmas tree, decorating, building a snowman, and so on are a great joy to see and relate too.

I like this book. I love reading it to my 18-month-old.  She says “Baby Jesus” when she sees the pages he is on. I like that this is available in a strong board book format so when handled by little hands it won’t wear out so easy and it can easily be wiped clean.

Perfect for at home or church and would make the perfect gift for littles ages 2-5 years old.
