Devotions from the Mountains {Book Review}

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. —Psalm 121:1–2

Devotions from the Mountains is an uplifting offering that will help one draw nearer to God on a daily basis. Anyone that finds great peace in nature will be refreshed and rejuvenated from the truths taken from the word of God and reflected back in each of the themed daily devotions shared.

Camping experiences, hiking adventures, solace in nature, the good and not so good experiences revolving around the mountain are brought to light. A few of the stories had me saying, yup, I’ve been there or done that too. Reminders of God’s grace, love, and promise shine throughout these pages.

The photography is breath-taking.  My favorite is a picture of a herd of sheep sitting on a cliffside, autumn colored trees behind, and the cloud covered sky with a glimpse of bright and glorious light shining through. Another photo I love is of an eagle soaring high above the ground below. The pictures are as awe-inspiring as the truths told in the devotions. I’m always excited to see what image resides on the page for the next reading.

If read daily the devotional will last a reader about three months. There is a handy ribbon bookmark included to keep your spot until the next reading. There is no spot to take notes or journal a reflection if desired within its pages. The devotions take about five minutes to read give or take. Each reading features a title, scripture verse, and ends with a thought & prayer meant to be spoken to the Lord.

I am getting so much out of this devotional and most certainly recommend it.
