The Beginner’s Bible My First Book of Prayers is geared toward boys and girls ages 3-8 years old. In this book, children will be introduced to sixteen Bible stories, a corresponding scripture reading, and topical prayer that goes with along with it. This book is in a simple format that encourages children to speak with God while eliminating any unsure feelings associated with prayer but instead is assured of God’s love, care, and in his enjoyment of hearing from his children (them!).

The story pictures with a scripture reference and corresponding prayer are; God Created All Things, God Told Noah to Build an Ark, Joseph Forgave His Brothers, God’s Commandment, David Kills the Giant, David and Jonathan Were Best Friends, Esther Became Queen, A Scary Storm, A Boy Shares His Food with Jesus, The Good Samaritan Helps Out, Stuck in a Bad Situation, Jesus Loves the Children, People Filled with Joy, The Poor Widow Gives Her Last Penny, The Gift of the Holy Spirit, and The Lord’s Prayer.

Prayer topics are gratitude, hard work, forgiveness, wisdom, courage, friendship, purpose, peace, sharing, kindness, honesty, love, happiness, generosity, patience, and prayer. The prayers are simple and you could read a verse or two and have a child repeat after you especially if they are early readers.

The illustrations pair well with the story. They are colorful, detailed, and characters are quite expressive.

This is the perfect offering to introduce preschool aged children to prayer and the importance of it. It would be great for at home use or in a Sunday School setting.
