We homeschool and when I was approached about this book, I knew I had to have it. My hopes weren’t shattered in the least bit. This book is everything I could have hoped for. It has eye-catching illustrations and interesting facts. The book starts readers out in the Prehistoric and ends in the Contemporary Fashion of today. There are several pages of timelines covering hats, shoes, hairstyles, and much. It’s been pretty neat to see how fashion has evolved over all this time.

I was most excited about learning about the Old Japan fashion since my Grandma is from Japan and is full-blooded Japanese. Learning about this country and time was so interesting. Like the other sections in the book, information is covered in a total of two pages. We learned about popular events during that time like about sumo wrestling, the theater, how flip-flops have their roots in Japan, and so much more. It was a pleasure to teach my kids a little bit about their Great Grandma’s culture and they thought it was very neat.

The main things we learn in the book are the what, the why, and the how behind the fashion. Aren’t you curious about how the items were made and what for instance started the trend? This book answers all that and can be used as a diving board for more if you like me chose to use this book as a guide to all things fashion. I am already planning on using this book over the Summer and during the next school year for lessons for both my oldest daughter (age 9) as well as my son (age 6.5) .  Highest of recommendations.
