After binge watching season 3 of When Calls the Heart on Netflix several weeks ago, I was thrilled to get ahold of the latest DVD release thanks to Shout Factory! The DVD When Calls the Heart: The Heart of Faith is the first episode to watch in season 4 also known as “When Calls the Heart Christmas”. The runtime of this DVD is 1 hour, 26 minutes which makes it longer than you average episode. So if you like me, just finished season 3, this picks up right where that season left off.
About: Christmas is coming to Hope Valley and everyone’s in a festive mood. Rosemary and Lee have returned from their honeymoon to reside in their new row house next to Elizabeth, who’s busy helping her students mount a nativity play. A traveling peddler, Sam, is mistaken for Santa by the kids… and then mistaken for a thief – temporarily – by Jack! But Elizabeth is stunned when word arrives that the supply train has derailed. Without costumes for the play, food for the feast and presents for the kids, Christmas will be ruined! It takes a lot of faith, spirit, and the cooperation of friends and family to show Hope Valley what Christmas is all about!
I’ll admit it was little weird watching this DVD in the middle of March because of the Christmas theme but that doesn’t take away from enjoying the story. I enjoy the fact that they’ve done author Janette Oke’s work (The Love Comes Softly series) right! The acting is good. It’s a clean rigorous and romantic adventure as epic as the wide frontier that safe for the whole family to watch.
This movie doesn’t disappoint. The story is quite interesting. There’s action, adventure, romance, mystery and the importance of community all throughout! I enjoyed this offering just as much as the rest of the series! I totally recommend adding it to your collection if you’re a fan already.
