The Women of Easter: Encounter the Savior with Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene {Book Review}

The Women of Easter by Liz Curtis Higgs is excellent read leading up the Easter holiday.  The author does a beautiful job at giving readers an eye-opening and fresh look at the story of Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene and their important roles surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of our Saviour Christ Jesus.

This book look into the history and culture during this time mentioned in the Bible. We learn how these ladies lived and what was going on. We see the bold stand they took in welcoming and following Jesus.  I like this personal touch and greater understanding that Liz has given us to ponder in making the story more personal to us. I feel we all can relate to one of not all of these ladies in one way or another.

This book takes us through how Jesus met these ladies and to when he left this earth.  There are eight chapters total. In the back of the book, there’s a study guide which one could go through alone or with a group of friends. Aside from thoughts and insights, the book is filled with scripture. The author dissects each verse and really breaks it down into its most simple form to give one a greater understanding.

I highly believe that any lady would be blessed, encouraged, and find a rich deeper meaning to the season after going through this study.  I highly recommend this book!
