Nancy B’s Science Club: Mighty Microbes Lab and Germ Journal way make one squirm a little bit. This kit gives ones an up close look at the things we commonly don’t see called microbes. Some are good and some are bad but which are which is the question often many will be asking. This kit will answer the questions that one would have and conduct similar experiments to find out specific information. Kids will get the opportunity to grow and feed microbes. How cool is that?
The 22-page activity book has about 10 experiment to conduct that explore the concepts of fungi and bacteria and how they affect our daily lives. The journal activity book packed full of places to jot down what’s happening with the experiments done week by week, day by day, etc. We learn about the truth or myth about the five-second rule, how to make agar ( i.e microbe food), how to grow colonies, how to stop mold growth with spices, how to bring yeast to life, the magic of fermentation, and more!
There are so many different types of science. This field would fall into the biology and microbiology category. The tools provided in the kit mimic those you likely would find in an actual lab conducting similar experiments. Kids will get creative, ask questions, and further their knowledge in such a cool way with this set.
I think the value of this kit is fantastic. Everything other than what’s found around the house is included. The book is one use only when it comes to writing down results and things that go on with each activity. But you could either copy pages or write down results elsewhere if intending to use it for more than one child or student.
This kit would be perfect for any child that loves Science!
