The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional: Includes 90 Devotions {Review}

The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional is an excellent choice for children preschool age to around third grade. There are ninety devotions which  roughly equals about three months worth of readings. Brother Bear, Sister Bear,  their whole family, and span of friends are favorite characters of my own as well as my children. I’m pleased that the character series offers this devotional to share aside from the storybooks both new and old that I typically reach for.

This devotional can be used at any time. There are no days, dates, month, nor number printed.  To keep place in the book, there’s a medium width blue bookmark within.  The table of contents list the sections that the devotions cover. These are as listed; A Bed Time Prayer, God Loves You Very Much, Be Kind and Helpful to Others, Be Forgiving, God’s Gifts and Blessings, Be Thankful, Be Courageous, Be a Good Friend, Have Faith, and Be Joyful.

The devotionals are short and would take maybe 5 minutes or less to read. All feature a title, a full scripture verse, and a Carry On Cub to think about what was read section. Some of the material such as stories and art is repurposed from a few of the books I’ve noticed but that’s no big deal to me. Children can always use reminders. The prayers are written and rhyme and the scripture all taken from the NIV Bible translation.

I feel the material is applicable to children in today’s day and age. I feel it’s important to start the day and end it in the word of God. This devotional is perfect for ending. The applications encourage and inspire one to grow in their faith and to live selflessly. The book is compact in size so it takes up very little space on a bedside table or drawer. I would recommend this devotional to boys and girls.
