Melissa Leapman’s Indispensable Stitch Collection for Crocheters

Melissa Leapman’s Indispensable Stitch Collection for Crocheters is a wonderful book for a crocheter of any skill level to add to their collection of resource books. This book isn’t some boring instructional book full of lackluster by any means. There are two-hundred stitch patterns worked up in a plethora of color shades found in the Cascade 220 wool yarn collection line. It’s a visual delight!

Each of the stitch patterns in this book are displayed in full-colored detailed photographs, explained in word, and instructed in charted symbol. Stitches range from covering one on a whole page to having several listed on a page at a time. The format flows very well. Stitches in this title can be found in the first section in this book and are categorized as follows; Simple Solid Patterns, Shell and Fan Stitch Patterns, Openwork and Lace Patterns, Textured Patterns, Color-work Patters, and Edgings.

The second section of this book is Resources. This section list abbreviations, understanding international crochet symbols and crochet techniques. The techniques in this area of the book are explained and illustrated. It certainly serves as a good reminder to seasoned crocheters or as a learning opportunity for beginner crocheters.

In being a novice crocheter, I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of this book. I had no idea there were so many unique stitches you could do on the hook. I appreciate the introduction and walk through in how to use and get the most out of this book that is included in the few beginning pages. I’m learning so much with the clear and easy to understand instructions in this collection.

If one is looking to design their own projects or learn exciting new stitches to do alone or combine, I recommend this title! With a book like this one will likely to make some interesting wearables, home decor, and much more. It’s nice this book is available in e-book and print format.
