Educational Insights: Once upon A Craft The Elves and The Shoemakers {Review}

The Once upon A Craft The Elves and The Shoemakers set would make a fun gift for a child with a love for listening or retelling stories, crafts, imaginative play, and reading! In this set, there’s an illustrated full color book of the story, a lace-up shoe with shoe lace, decorative peel and stick foam stickers for the shoe, a double sided play-set stage to re-create the story , and characters to color.IMG_20160906_104308

This set is something for a child to do on their own or with a friend, sibling, parent, sitter, family member, or caregiver. It’s perfect for a rainy day, in my opinion! The future playability will clearly depend on the child. If, for instance, your child thrives on classical learning and a love for books and crafts this will certainly be an excellent gift choice.

I like how mess free this set is. There’s no glue or cutting paper. The only thing you’ll need is some sort of coloring tool. My kids used markers to color the 7 ready-to-color characters. The stands these characters go on are very strong and durable!
To be honest, my kids used this set once and haven’t gone back to it. They did the craft but haven’t gone back to read the story or retell it with the characters and stage. If I had this kit as a child, I would have been extremely happy with it and played with it over and over again. I would stress that parents/caregivers should use their best judgment in deciding if this kit would be right for the child in their life.
