The One Year Home and Garden Devotions {Book Review}

I’ve been reading though The One Year Home and Garden Devotions since the first of January. What drew me to this book was the fact it mentions the word garden and home in the title. I adore gardening and I’m striving to be a better homemaker. I figured a book (especially a Christ-centered devotional) revolving around these two aspects would be a the perfect read with plenty of practical applications for someone like me.

The start of each month, begins with an offering. The offering could be a recipe for something delicious, a how to in creating a specific thing for the home whether decorative or to improve the atmosphere, and so forth. I like these additions and think it’s great there’s a website url included in which you can print off each month’s printable for free as well.

Each devotion starts with the date, followed by the title, a short story, and a Bible verse. Sandra writes shares stories from her own life that I feel many can relate to in one way or another. Some of the stories are somewhat funny and others a tad more serious. The devotions are packed full of practical advice, encouragement, and give one just enough to reflect upon throughout the day.

I feel this devotional would be a great fit for homemakers, garden enthusiast, and those who cater toward seeing God in all that they do in their home and with their families. The nice thing that since this book doesn’t have yearly dates i.e 2016 and so forth it can be passed along after you are through with it to share with someone else for the next year!
