National Pollinator Week during June 15 through the 21st this year is a celebration of the valuable eco-system services provided by bees, butterflies, beetles, birds and beetles. It is initiated and managed by the Pollinator Partnership. During this time, light is shed on the importance of pollination and pollinators. In doing absolutely nothing one of our primary sources of food wouldn’t thrive! Pollination must occur to get another plant. It’s crucial to be informed and act upon the knowledge learned in what you can do to help our eco-system!
Suggestions to celebrate National Pollinator Week, as provided by Pollinator.org are to:
- Download the BeeSmartTM Pollinator Gardener at the iTunes Store or Android Market
- Plant pollinator habitat in your garden, church, farm, school or office
- Give a BeeSmartTM School Garden Kit to a school of your choice
- Give a garden tour
- Coordinate group visits to botanical gardens
- Cook a pollinated meal (with ingredients of foods that rely on pollinators for propagation) for yourself, friends and family or provide pollinated treats for co-worker
In being aware of the need, My family and I have decided that among our garden we would provide a plethora of flowers that are favorites to pollinators! Not only do these flower offer a nice pop of color, but they attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other species! Thanks to the BBBseed’s company we now have many more flowers to attract these species to our yard! I planted this companies seeds about a week ago and they’ve already germinated!
My children were happy to help in giving back to environment and knowing that in drawing the pollinators it’ll do great for our garden as well. The mixes are full of annuals and perennials all vastly different in colors, shape, size, and scent! I’m solely using this week to focus on the importance of not using chemicals, thinking ahead and growing pollinator favorites that will span multiple seasons, in providing a welcoming habitat. We will continue to spread the word and encourage friends and loved ones to do the same!
BBBseed’s Bee Rescue mixture is composed of annuals and perennials that will bloom all season long. It has been field tested and is known to attract honey bees, bumble bees and other native bees such as mining bees, leaf-cutter bees, sweat bees and long-horned bees, as well as other types of pollinators. Pollinators will forage on the flowers for nectar and pollen for their needed carbohydrates and protein. Well-nourished bees and other pollinators are more capable of fending off diseases and parasites and are an integral part of sustaining healthy eco-systems.
I would encourage everyone to invest in BBBseed’s Bee Rescue mixture. It’s so very important to make sure we are helping our pollinators thrive and giving them a safe and healthy place to do what they do best because our future depends on it as well.
