The Beginner’s Bible: Stories About Jesus {Book Review}

The Beginner’s Bible – Stories About Jesus Board Book is a good choice for children ages 3-6 years old. This book follows the life of Jesus from his birth to the resurrection.  There are seven stories total with each ranging from 2-4 pages long. The style of the illustrations is in cartoon format with bold colors that certainly draw the eye of a young child. This book is a bit beyond my six year old daughter content wise but my four year old son has brought it over for me to read to him a few times.  He loves pointing out the stories he already knew.  I appreciate that the text was easy enough for him to understand and keep his attention.

The Stories:

– “Baby Jesus Is Born” (Jesus’ birth)
– “Fishers of People” (choosing of the 12 disciples)
– “Jesus Calms the Storm” (Jesus & the storm)
– “Jesus and the Children” (Jesus & children)
– “Jesus Feeds Thousands” (feeding of the thousands)
– “Jesus Heals a Blind Man” (healing the blind man)
– “The Easter Story” (crucifixion & resurrection)

The board book format allows for younger children to handle the book without the fear of pages wearing out or accidentally getting ripped.  I would recommend it for the younger crowd. I feel it would be a nice addition to any Sunday school classroom or home library.
