Words to Dream On Bedtime Bible Stories and Prayers {Book Review}

Words to Dream On – Bedtime Bible Stories and Prayers by Diane Storz is a wonderful retelling of several well-known stories taken from the Word of God. There are over 50 stories from both the Old and New Testament included. I noted that chronological order is kept starting out with the creation story in Genesis and ending with the promise to return found in the book of Revelations.

What first drew me to this book were the beautifully rich illustrations by Diane Le Feyer. The imagery to depict the stories and scenes fit ever so perfectly. The colors are quite vivid and extremely awe inspiring. My children age 4 and 6 years old told me they enjoyed looking at the pictures too.DSCN0799

The stories all follow the same format. There’s a title, scripture reference in which the retelling was taken from, Words to Dream On (a brief Bible verse), the devotion/story, Sleepy-Time Prayer ( a short prayer to pray after the reading), and Bedtime Blessing (truths to ponder and apply). The hardcover book has a satin blue ribbon to keep your place for each time a story is read.

In the back of the book, there’s a section full of tips and helpful advice to parents in how to provide a welcoming reading time to their children. I think this was a wonderful addition to the book and feel that many parents will appreciate it was included as well.

Both my son and daughter enjoy listening to the bedtime stories from this title every night. Seeing the anticipation in my children to hear what will be shared at each evening brings such joy to my heart. This title has been a wonderful blessing to share with them in knowing that through these stories they are learning of God’s love for them.

In hearing the truth of God, learning to pray and to ponder the scriptures at a young age is what I believe every Christian parent would want for their children. I can’t recommend this bedtime story book enough!
