Guest Post Review by Justin Lowmaster: The Five Love Languages for Men is a manly spin-off of the useful and successful book The Five Love Languages. The focus is on men and their wives, but it will apply to single men who plan to be married someday, as well as with your kids.

There is a brief introduction to the concept of the Five Love Languages. It’s enough you get you started if you haven’t read the original. Then after a bit of preparation about what’s ahead, the book jumps into the five different languages.

If you know what your wife’s love language is, you can jump to that passage. There’s also a survey in the back of the book the two of you can do to find out your love languages. If however you don’t know, each chapter will help along the way for you to know which is the right one. Plus all the info is useful.

The book contains illustrations that augment the sections with visual aids to help you remember the ideas of the related ideas. Sometimes they may induce a chuckle.

The chapters are helpful in pointing out the ways to succeed, as well as how to avoid screwing up. Since chances are your wife’s love language isn’t the same one you speak, it good to know how not to say it as much as the right way. Just as words that sound similar or the same in a language might mean “bathroom” when you mean to say “good”, you can convey a completely wrong message while trying to say the right thing. This book will help you get the accent right.

There is also a troubleshooting section for when you’re trying but something isn’t quite right, and a section of frequently asked questions.

On top of all that is the highly useful how-to section on every guy’s favorite thing to do: apologize. If your apologies end up coming out as defensive attack or indirect blame shifting, then this section will help you say the right things (of course, you have to mean it, or it doesn’t count.)

Any man who’s worth his salt should want to improve his marriage as much as possible. This is a well crafted tool to help equip them to do just that. It’s a fairly quick read, clearly written, and has pounds of information you can use to exercise your mind with. It’s a good book, you should check it out.
