Nourished {Book Review}

Nourished: A Search for Health, Happiness and a Full Night’s Sleep is a must-read self-help book from mother and daughter team Becky Johnson and Rachel Randolph. They address the top ten stressors of women and offer sound practical advice in how to makes changes in these areas. Through their heart felt stories and experiences both good and bad, this team treats readers like some of their closest friends. The ultimate aim is to help us become and see who God created us to be which most certainly is not a defeated, worn thin, and constantly overwhelmed woman.

I’m not sure if these strong feeling of discontentment hit because of turning 30 this month or just because I know something needs to change. After delving into Nourished, I’ve been filled with many new perspectives. I’ve taken steps per suggested from the author’s in making time for me and the things I love a priority. I already see the changes and benefits in my life since. A lot that is mentioned seems like common sense but often we need the push in the right general direction to get to that place of personal peace.

What I love about this book particularly is that we hear from two people. They are both two very different people in different stages in life presented with similar issues and situations. They sometimes handle the issues in like ways but also in very different ways. They encourage readers to find what works for them. Due to having different life styles, issues, and personalities it’s not always the easiest to find a solution but we are encouraged to try. I feel the authors give us many different ways to getting on the right path to finding fulfillment through God in our lives.

Areas that are covered include: Advice in organizing your home, finding time in your schedule, getting rid of a negative body issues, menu planning, nurturing as well as finding those sister-friend relationships, and much more. There’s humor, helpfulness, and sincere reaching packed into this book. I believe Nourished has the power to change ones life by acting upon the very beneficial advice within the pages. I can’t recommend it enough.

I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
