Abby Smith’s The New Braiding Handbook has really amazed me with what a few twists here and there has the capability to do. These easy to learn techniques can transform a dull day-to-day hairstyle into a fresh new look. In just a matter of minutes each morning with minimal effort, my hair has literally gone from boring to beautiful! It has been nice to be able achieve such a difference subtly that is much more attractive and yet just as practical as a pony tail or clipped up in the back hair.
Abby does an excellent job in providing step-by-step instructions for 60 styles! I thought achieving such gorgeous styles would be difficult! I was wrong! The instructions are easy to understand and the full color photos accurately display each step to take to achieve the desired style . If needing extra help, I am pleased to know I can check out the author’s Youtube channel.
The Basics section of the book is world of information on basic hair care, hair types, terminology & terms, as well as basic technique instruction. I believe this added section of the book is extremely beneficial in delving into hair care and beauty. I highly appreciate it was added and feel that much more comfortable having learned so much!
I have a few go to styles from this book such as the basic French braid, rope braid, and milkmaid braids. Many of the styles are great for everyday and others for more casual or elaborate evenings out. I can easily decide upon which style I would like to try by browsing the image gallery that follows the contents. There are ponytail braids, formal, buns, knots, Topsy tails, twists, dutch braids, and more! It’s key to learn the basic braids and then most certainly any of the other styles can be achieved with ease!
Braiding has been a far a better choice than getting bored with my lack of style and getting all my hair cut off at the salon! I know everyone has been there at one point or another. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a change or just aiming to add to your hair styling skills!
