Any child interested in the Ocean is sure to love the Ocotonauts! My daughter age 6 and my son age 3 1/2 recently have been introduced to this show this year and are quite taken with it! The latest not to miss out on DVD releasing soon by nCircle that my family got to pre-screen is called “Octonauts: Calling All Sharks!”. On this feature, there’s non-stop adventure in which kids discover the lovable characters exploring, rescuing, and protecting all sorts of animals found in the sea!
This DVD is 70 minutes long, you can easily sit and watch all the episodes or break it up and watch one at a time. There are a total of six episodes and a bonus feature teaching kids more about the marine life in six Creature Reports. Sea creatures on this DVD that children will learn about include Cookiecutter Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Dwarf Lantern Sharks, Giant Jelly, Pilot Fish, & a Porcupine Puffer. The facts about each animal are mentioned in the episode as the story goes along but also will be brought up during the end in the “Creature Report”.
I really like all the shark episodes on this collection. Often people make sharks out to be scary or the bad guy but really they aren’t. I want my kids to know that and I believe thanks to the Octonauts, they are reassured and no longer fearful of sharks! My kids thought it was really neat there are so many different types of sharks out there from very small ones to quite larger.
Overall we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the series! Randomly throughout the day my kids will come up to me and let me know about some neat fact they learned while watching! It’s not just great entertainment but has actual educational benefits to it as well. Who knows, maybe this will encourage a child to be a marine biologist or another career pertaining to the sea!
