Tyrannosaurus Wrecks By Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen, illustrated by Zachariah Ohora is one of the latest additions to our home library courtesy of Abrams Books for Young Readers. Available for purchase April 1st, this bold book featuring a very enthusiastic Tyrannosaurus is sure to interest any dinosaur lover ages 3 to about 6 years old.In this perfect to read-aloud title, we meet a dinosaur that over enthusiastically wrecks nearly everything in his path! I know my son age 3 sometimes gets a little too excited and breaks towers without realizing he’s upsetting his sister! Much like my daughter handling her brothers wrecking, the other dino class mates are none to happy about his wrecking tell him to go away! This makes Tyrannosaurus sad and sorry for what he’d done. In turn, he makes things right by fixing every single thing he’d wrecked.

My kids were quite taken with this title. The illustrations are very bold and engaging! The images are in a vertical format so that everything that’s going on can be seen. It’s been great to read to my kids. I even got them to participate when it’s time to read a loud the word “WRECKS!”. There was totally a big build up till the next time they got to read that word and I’m pretty sure they got louder each and every time! I found an educations aspect to this title as there’s many different types of dinosaurs to be found on the pages of this book. On the inside cover of the book, there is a pronunciation guide with an image and specific name of each of the different dinosaurs!

This book has given me to opportunity to talk to my kids about their behavior when in class whether they are wrecking or having things wrecked by others. We’ve talked about actions to take and the feelings of others that could be hurt. This has been a great way to ease into the topic by using the dinosaur classmates and the T-rex as examples. Overall it’s a fun book to look at, to read aloud, and can be used as a conversation starter about behavior! I most certainly would recommend it!
