A Miracle of Hope {Book Review}

A Miracle of Hope is a story of two characters much at the end of their ropes. They accept a slightly awkward fix of an arranged marriage to try to remedy their current situations. A widower without a wife and a deaf daughter that needed cared for and a girl victim of an unwanted pregnancy shunned by her own community and rejected by a man she thought loved her.

This story was quite engaging from page 1 to page 337. Nothing was as I expected and the mystery of what step each character would take next kept me reading. The story is a wonderful eye opener of God’s Grace, hope, and love. The dynamic of husband and wife though rocky at the beginning was one I hope all would strive for. I really enjoyed watching the characters grow. The character development of both Lindie and Josiah was exceptionally done. The Amish way of living was also captured exceptionally well. I am now looking forward to reading more by Ruth Reid!

As a reader of quite a bit of Amish fiction, I appreciated the glossary of Amish words in the beginning of the book. There’s also Book Study Group questions in the back if you so chose to share your thoughts and feelings of story with friends! Overall, if you like Amish fiction that’s not overly predictable and characters that appear to be human, start reading this book!
