My Thoughts for 2014

P1120332 A simple life in the Fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches. -Proverbs 15:16

It’s that time of the year when everyone seems to be making goals for the new year. I’m guilty as charged but want to admit that I am sure I fell short of whatever long list of goals I set last year. Honestly, I don’t even remember what they were. I’ve come to accept that instead of adding even more things to my plate that I should look at my life and subtract and simplify. I want to make my new goals comfortably fit by making the things that matter a higher priority like time with God and spending time with my family. I want a lot of extra leg room and space to freely move (meaning if I can’t get something done on one day that I am not struggling and stressed out trying to make up for it).

Breathing room and time to rest and rejuvenate are a good thing. I often don’t think we leave much of that all in our lives anymore. What’s the big hurry anyways? It’s time to really enjoy life no matter what is thrown at us and if we don’t have time to stop and smell the roses we are really missing out. Life is really short and if your days are always extremely full of the things that don’t really matter that much, you’ll blink and miss the things that do matter.

Now I do have a list of things I’d like to do in 2014 that I just didn’t get to in 2013. Life happens and that’s just fine. And if those goals aren’t achieved again, I’ll be okay with that.No one knows what to expect next, hence being willing to set your own personal wants and desires aside and to follow God’s plan for your life. Sometimes that’s a little hard to swallow in a society that shouts it’s all about you and your desires and dreams. But if we are aiming to be more like Jesus we better mean what we say or we are a bunch of hypocrites.

I’ll be posting throughout the month of January of some goals I do intend on making part of my life this year like actual daily exercise ( I’m so bad about this and I know my health will suffer without it!), work ( an attempt to jump back into graphic designing), crafting ( using up what I have…yarn diet anyone else?) homeschooling goals, meal planning on a tight budget, growing my own food and spices,  and more.

I figured instead a long list of all my goals listed in one place, that separate posts for each would be more interesting.Do you plan on simplifying your life in 2014? What are some main goals that you have?
