American Playground by Putumayo Kids {review & giveaway}

We are going on vacation this Summer and I was deciding on what children’s music to bring with us on our long car rides. I wanted something that we all would obviously love to hear too. And if it’s a a great sing-a-long CD, even better! This can sometimes be a challenge in finding music a 2 year old, five year old, and both mom and dad wouldn’t mind looping for awhile. Trust me, there’s some music out there that can drain the life out of any parent and in turn bore the kids out of their mind. I’m sure we’ve all been there!

Being a fan of the Putumayo Kids music albums (excellent choice any time or season), I was excited to get a hold of one of their lastest offerings American Playground! This CD offers some of the very best of America’s favorite sing a long songs. After listening with both my kids this week, I am certain we’ll be enjoying it all Summer as well as bringing it along on our trip during the week of America’s Birthday!

This latest release arrives as Putumayo World Music celebrates its 20th anniversary as a global music label. The album art is very attractive and has total fun appeal. The illustration on the front cover displays children and animals riding upon a roller-coaster! When my kids saw the album on my desk, they begged for me to play put it on!

Many of the songs I already knew but for my children it was for the first time. Songs they already knew and loved include This Little Light of Mine, Oh Susannah, She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain and You Are My Sunshine. The songs are all super fun. Songs are sung and played in classic American folk country music style.

American Playground includes 20 pages of colorful liner notes, including photos of children at play, historical kid-friendly information about the songs that enhance the great American story, plus details about each featured artist. Album length is 25 minutes long.
