OXO Good Grips Cookie Press with Disk Storage Case {Review}

I’ve wanted a cookie press for quite a while now. There’s just something about cookies pressed into fun shapes that makes having them whether just for myself or with friends or family that much more special. OXO Good Grips is brand I know and trust in having products that will last over time and when I saw that they had this cookie press, I jumped at the chance knowing it would probably earn a welcome place into my kitchen.

I’ve yet to use a cookie press before so I don’t have anything to compare this one too. But I will say my experience with the OXO Good Grips Cookie Press has been very pleasing. It comes with with 12 stainless steel cookies disks which are as follows; Snowflake, Heart, Buttercup, Shell, Wreath, Tree, Sunflower, Daisy, Fleur De Lis, Bear, Leaf, and a butterfly. It was a nice touch that a storage case for the disks is also included. The variety of design disks that are offered are great for these types of cookies year round!

This cookie press offers easy operation with its comfortable lever and the non-slip bottom base kept dispensing the cookie dough steady and without any sorta hand strain. Seriously, I could have easily just kept pressing cookies out all day long if I made gobs of dough. And speaking of dough, the instructions give three great recipes so you don’t have to go looking for your own.

The press is see thru and that’s great because it let’s you know how close you are getting to needing to reload the press with more dough. I found changing out the disks and reloading while making cookies very easy as I just needed to press the quick release loading button and pull up.

My cookies came out nice and evenly! My suggestion would be to have plenty of pans ready for baking or to put the dough in the fridge for 2-3 minutes before the next batch. I only have two baking sheets and the recipe I used made a lot of cookies. I had to wait so I didn’t press cookies out on too warm of a pan. And the light cooling of the dough keeps it from being overly sticky and producing not so easily pressed cookies into nice shapes.

When washing it’s nice that everything can be un-screwed and taken apart super easily. Suggestions say that the barrel, bottom ring, and stainless steel disks are dishwasher safe but to be sure to wash the top and plunger by hand. I prefer washing it by hand if you wash it soon after you are done using it, it’ll be a lot easier to clean.

There’s nothing I don’t like about this product. I highly recommend this cookie press to anyone that likes to bake or is looking for an easy way to make their parties a little fancier. I for one know I’ll be whipping up some adorable butterfly, flower, and heart shaped cookies for my daughter’s 5th birthday in the Spring!
