Children’s Book Review: Little Pim: Colors

If you’re looking for a line of fun and effective books to introduce your child to different languages, you might want to check out The Little Pim books. These particular books are based off the award-winning Little Pim DVDs that promote learning different languages in fun and effective way.

The Little Pim books have been a hit with both my 4 year old daughter and my 16 month old son. The Little Pim book I’d like to talk about today is called “Colors”, a book that showcases objects and the six following colors red, yellow, blue, green, purple, and orange. As the reader open up to the first page it reads, ” This is Little Pim the panda” and it goes on to say ” He is looking for things that are red”. After that sentence it lists the color red in English, Spanish, and French featuring a very handy pronunciation guide for whomever may be reading the book to a child. On the corresponding page, there are three images on lift up flaps: a fire truck, a balloon, and a frog all in the shade of black and white. Above each image it reads “What about this…. (the image name is listed)”. As the flap is lifted, the color of the image is reveled and a phrase featuring the color and image in each language featured in the book.

My children have enjoyed The Little Pim Colors book. The lift up flaps and pull out tabs have kept them engaged and learning a word they know in a different language has been a great learning experience for them. The illustrations are bright and cheerful and I like the fact the real life photos are included as it helps with real world site and word recognition. They say that babies, toddlers, and preschoolers learn languages faster and more easily than adults so I think these books are a great resource if you’d like to encourage your child down that path.

If interested, you can purchase Little Pim: Colors at for $8.95.
