Children’s Book Review: Get Dressed! by Seymour Chwast

Get Dressed by Seymour Chawast is a book that celebrates in getting dressed for the day whether it be for a trip to the beach or a day playing make believe. And what a book this is to keep children interested and amused. As the reader opens the book with it’s magnetic cover, which is shaped like a snazzy button up shirt with a tie, they will find that the book itself features pretty spiffy fold out pages! The fold out feature mixes things up each page keep children guessing what’s next!

The illustrations are fun and look to be drawn with crayon. The kid appeal screams out every page. I really enjoyed reading this one to the kids and pointing out the fun plethora of things on each page that could be worn say to read about dragons, or when getting dressed to sing. Items include everything from paper crowns, a soup pot, rubber gloves, feather dusters, to flip flops and flippers! It really encourages kids to get creative when dressing up, which is one of my preschoolers favorite play time activities!

I recommend this book for children ages 2-4 years old that may be learning to get dressed on their own or for those that already love playing dress up and make believe. This book will be a fun inspiration to them, I’m sure!
