Jumpstart.Com Virtual World {Review}

As a homeschooling blogging mother of a preschooler, I’m very much into sharing about all the great educational materials I come across that my readers may also want to use with their own children! I’m happy to say with our future generation being very much into technology and using the computers that a browser-based virtual world like the one Jump Start offers is great for those just being introduced to using the computer as well as children that already know some of their way around.

The Jump Start virtual world was created for children ages 3-10 years old. To start, children can create personal avatar characters and easily begin to explore the world of Jumpstart.  The world of JumpStart is ever changing and I love that there’s always something new to keep your kids attention! Currently this month, the theme is pirates and with the themes comes fun quest and special items in the in games store!

A an awesome feature in the game is that children can earn coins by playing learning games and put those coins toward decorations for their very own house, clothes for their avatar, and more! I really like that they can earn things and it teaches kids about money!

In Jump Start, during September they've been celebrating Pirates. We can't wait to see what October has in store for the virtual world!

There are lots of different areas (AdventureLand, MaineLand, FutureLand, and more!) to explore for certain age groups for example, there’s StoryLand, aimed at 3-5 year olds. My daughter has been having fun and learning all sort of things in this area! She can learn her abcs, sounds and pronunciation, matching, numbers, and more!

One of newest added areas in the world of JumpStart is the Enchanted Sanctuary where kids can hatch and raise their own mythical pets! My daughter has a sweet Pegasus in which she choose the colors when her pet was just  an egg!  Having her own pet also known as a Mythee in the game is teaching her the responsibility of having a pet for the future. She is learning to play, care, feed, and train her pet.

JumpStart.comis world of resources for both parents and teachers. You can find all sorts of information to add to a lesson plan or create one solely from the vast information and helpful suggestions they’ve put together! I’ve been reading up on the JumpStart Blog at http://blog.jumpstart.com for information about the latest additions to the game! I like being hands on in what my children are learning and JumpStart makes that so easy having written up a very helpful game guide.

Overall my daughter loves playing JumpStart so much that she’s always asking to go on the computer to play. They’ve done a great job make learning so much fun for kids.  There’s nothing we don’t like and we highly recommend getting connected to the Jumpstart Virtual world too!

We were using Jumpstart.com for free for awhile but I’m going to recommend purchasing a membership! There are several memership levels to choose from and when you sign up, you get access to everything on JumpStart.com, Learning Adventure’s other virtual world, MathBlaster.com AND four downloadable games to play right on your own computer.
