Book Description

Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore! Join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, and the Lion on a magical adventure to the Land of Oz. This exciting new Classic Pop-Ups book brings the beloved L. Frank Baum tale to life like never before — with gorgeous color illustrations by Paul Hess and incredible pop-up panoramas accented by atmospheric sounds and music. Leave the cornfields of Kansas behind on the clouds of a whooshing tornado, oil the rusty Tin Woodsman’s squeaky joints, and discover the Emerald City as it rises before your eyes in one of the most incredible pop-up scenes ever created. This version of The Wizard of Oz is utterly captivating, and destined to be a favorite bedtime book for years to come!

About the Author

L. Frank Baum (15 May 1856 – 6 May 1919) was a U.S. author, poet, playwright, actor, and independent filmmaker best known today as the creator – along with illustrator WW Denslow – of one of the most popular books in U.S. children’s literature: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He wrote thirteen sequels, nine other fantasy novels, and a plethora of other works, including 55 novels, 82 short stories, and over 200 poems.

My Thoughts…

THE WIZARD OF OZ: A CLASSIC STORY POP-UP BOOK WITH SOUNDS by L. Frank Baum (retold by Libby Hamilton) and illustrated by Paul Hess is a magical book! The look on my 2 1/2 year old daughter’s face when I opened the very first page of this book was absolutely priceless.  I loved how she was captivated by each of the new sounds and pop ups as I turned through each page in this book. Her most favorite page spread most definitely was the majestic emerald city!

This book features art from classic story of the The Wizard of Oz and the story found throughout is a brief retelling. I like that it is a brief retelling as it’s perfect for a limited  reading time or for a not too long bedtime story before children slip off into their own imaginative dream worlds of adventures of their own.

I look forward to reading and sharing this book with my children for years and years to come. I can easily see myself reading this timeless classic to my own grandchildren in the future. This book is sure to appeal to not just children but adults alike. I highly recommend adding this book to your own personal collection today!
